Apple based autonomous cars to soon be a reality
Tim Cook finally confirms the development of technology at Apple that will power the autonomous cars in the future.
Before the dawn of Tesla, self-driving autonomous cars were a far-fetched reality. But after Elon Musk hit a home-run with his Tesla model, all car manufacturers have kicked up their R&D a notch higher and employed millions of dollars in acquiring autonomous vehicle startups.
Not only car manufacturers, but also software-centric IT companies have engaged in the development of autonomous vehicle software which can be used to make existing cars smart and self-driving able.
“We’re focusing on autonomous systems,” Cook said. “it’s a core technology that we view as very important. It’s the mother of all AI projects and probably one of the most difficult AI projects to work on.”
Rumours about Apple building a self-driving car have been going around since 2014 which is codenamed Project Titan. It reportedly has more than 1,000 engineers working on it. But according to reports in October last year, their focus changed to developing the required software instead of an actual car which eliminated Tesla as their completion.
The future of autonomous car promises to be packed to the brim with excitement and jaw-dropping technology and will certainly change the way our world works and goes to work.
