BlackBerry Motion announced with 5.5-inch display and a massive battery
After so many rumors, BlackBerry has finally made its upcoming mid-range smartphone official, the BlackBerry Motion at GITEX Technology Week, Dubai. As expected, it’s same as its predecessor — BlackBerry KEYone — without a physical keyboard.
The BlackBerry Motion sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD display. At the heart, there is a 64-bit Snapdragon 625 SoC processor paired with 4GB of RAM and a massive 4,000 mAH battery. It has 32GB internal storage and it can also be expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). The device will run with a USB 2.0 with Type-C reversible connector along which will support QuickCharge 3.0. It also has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and a fingerprint scanner on the front side. It comes with customized Android 7.1 i.e. you’ll get the same security-focused apps intended to make it business- and privacy-friendly.
Coming onto the photography front, it sports a 12-megapixel rear shooter with a f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash capability and ability to record videos in 4K at 30fps. There’s an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with Selfie flash feature.
“While the initial launch of our newest BlackBerry smartphone will be limited, this is an exciting addition to our growing BlackBerry smartphone portfolio, setting a strong foundation for further portfolio and market growth in the years to come.” — Alain Lejeune, Global General Manager for BlackBerry Mobile
TCL and BlackBerry are bringing this device to a handful of markets at first, with other markets following this quarter. The company has priced the device at Dh1,699 (equivalent to about $460) in UAE and 1,699 Riyal in Saudi Arabia where the device will first go on sale.
