Google expects to hit 3-4 million Pixel sales before year end
Google recently unveiled its ambitious Pixel project with two smartphones launch. Both Pixel and Pixel XL offers top-tier hardware with latest Android 7.1 Nougat out of box, which by the way won’t be available to others before 2016 end.
If the latest report from DigiTimes Research is to be believed, the search giant is looking to move somewhere between 3 to 4 million Pixel units this year. While this figure is still small compared to latest iPhone or Galaxy, it would label Pixels as ‘Hit’ tag for sure.
With recent Galaxy Note 7 recall and unavailability of LG V20 could pay the way for Pixel to reach that mark.
But, things won’t be that easy for Google. The biggest roadblock could come with higher price tag, lack of advertising and worldwide availability. It will be interesting to see how Google handles it as the search giant has some long term plans with Pixels and the company is eventually looking forward to use in-house SoC in future ‘Made by Google’ smartphones.
