Google Pixel 2 specs leaks, leaves us with more to desire
Google Pixel was one of the highly anticipated devices of 2016. The search giant showed what it is capable of when taking hardware-software combo and advertising seriously.
The Pixel 2 is expected to make a debut sometime in Q4 2017. And the first possible specs and model codename just leaked over at XDA developers. Let’s start with the small one aka Walleye.
The Walleye is expected to feature the same 4.97-inch full HD display with huge bezels on top and bottom. Unlike the original Pixel, this one may bring the stereo speakers on front and ditch 3.5mm jack as well. The CPU in use will be Snapdragon 835 coupled with 4GB of RAM.
The bigger Pixel ‘Taimen’ will bring major changes to the table. First, the ugly bezels are gone and the screen size is increased at 5.99-inch. Last year, Google invested in LG’s display division and we may see the same 18:9 aspect ratio in Pixel XL. Even Google started to encourage developers to use the new aspect ratio in apps. Under the hood, Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM will handle the tasks. The back panel is made of same metal-glass sandwich with similar fingerprint scanner position. The inclusion of IP-68 certification or any kind of Wireless charging is still unknown.
The report also stated about Nexus Imprint, when referring to device’s fingerprint scanner. So maybe, Google is planning to bring back Nexus brand back with smaller Pixel and wants the Taimen to take the leading flagship role in device line-up. Just a guess.
