GoPro Hero6 Black can shoot video at 4K 60fps — goes on sale today

Today, the most powerful GoPro — Hero6 Black is unveiled at an event in San Francisco. Hero6 Black is all about slow-motion. It can shoot video right from 4K 60fps till 1080p 240fps.

“HERO6’s next-level image quality, video stabilisation and three times faster QuikStories performance makes it a powerful storytelling extension of your smartphone. It’s never been easier to live it, and then share it using a GoPro,” said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro’s founder and CEO.

At the heart, GoPro Hero6 Black is powered by a custom processor, named “GP1”. It is the only reason behind higher frame rates. It also promises improved dynamic range and low-light performance. You can also capture slo-mo videos at 2.7K resolution and 120fps. The Hero 6 also allows you to shoot super-slo-mo videos at 1080p and 240fps. It comes with a built-in zoom that you can control from the touch screen. The digital touch-to-zoom was one of the most requested features by users.

The GoPro Hero6 Black has faster Wi-Fi, working on the the 5GHz bands to speed up transfers. Other than faster Wi-Fi and higher frame rates, it has identical specifications including battery life as its predecessor. The camera has a built-in GPS and a 2-inch LCD screen. It is also waterproof to 10m without a case.

For stills, you’re still getting 12MP JPG/RAW files and the dedicated Wide Dynamic Range mode is still on board.

The GoPro Hero6 Black is priced at ₹45,000 in India whereas it will be available globally for $500 / €570 / £500.
