Honor V10 launched: OnePlus 5T got a competitor?
As expected, the Honor V10 sports a 5.99-inch 18:9 full-screen FHD+ (1080*2560 ~490 ppi density) LTPS IPS LCD display with the ultra narrow bezel. At the heart, we get an Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 970 10nm SoC with i7 co-processor, dedicated neural network processing unit, Mali-G72 MP12 GPU, and the phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo painted with Emotion UI 8.0. The phone is powered by a 3,750mAh battery on the inside, while fast charging (22.5W) is included in the package as well. The company claims that the fast charging technology can charge the V10 from 0 to 50% in half an hour. Connection specs include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, USB Type-C, and NFC. It also includes two SIM card slots, and we’re looking at a hybrid dual SIM setup here.
The V10 has a 16-megapixel RGB sensor along with 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with Artificial Intelligence engine that offers Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition functionality, automatically choosing the perfect camera settings for any environment or focal point. It also has a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with A.I. selfie portraits and face unlock.
Honor also says that the AI is capable of detecting when someone else is using the smartphone, and immediately hides calls and messages. It also automatically rotates the screen horizontally or vertically according to what the smartphone is being used for.
Every other smartphone with 18:9 display out there, has the fingerprint scanner on the rear side but this isn’t in the case of Honor V10. On V10, we get a front-facing fingerprint scanner, which is quite impressive, and despite that fact, the bezels on this handset are not thick at all, they’re actually quite thin.
Honor has also partnered with Microsoft for its translation tools, which are integrated into the V10. With this, the Honor V10 is said to offer real-time translation for different languages.
The V10 comes in Black, Aurora Blue, Gold and Red colors and is priced at 2699 yuan (US$ 409 / ₹26,350 approx.) for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version, 2999 yuan (US$ 455 / ₹29,280 approx.) for the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version and the top-end 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version costs 3499 yuan (US$ 530 / ₹34,165 approx.). It is available for order in China and goes on sale from December 5 and will arrive India in January 2018.
Honor is the only company after OnePlus whose providing flagship-like specs at an affordable price. The specifications and the price of both the Honor V10 and OnePlus 5T are almost similar. Though, there are some features which differ in both the phones; The 5T has a Full Optic AMOLED display whereas the V10 has an LCD display. The 5T has the fingerprint scanner on the rear side whereas the V10 has it on the front. On the software side, we get Andorid 7.1.1 on 5T and Android 8.0 on V10. Though, I would prefer Oxgyen OS over EMUI. The battery on V10 is more compared to the 5T.
In short, Honor V10 is going to be a great competitor with OnePlus 5T.
