HTC U11 sales better than that of M10 and M9
Long gone are the days when HTC proudly shone its armour against competitors in the battlefield of smartphones. HTC M8 was the last phone that could be given the tag of being a successful one. The M9 and the M10 couldn’t do much to save the moribund knighthood.
Fast forward to 2017 and it looks like HTC is turning the tables around with its U11. During a shareholder’s meeting Chang Chia-Lin, president of HTC’s smartphone division, revealed that the U11 is selling better than the HTC M10 and M9.
The HTC 11 has fared pretty well in the hands of reviewers and doesn’t have any bottlenecks that could be potential deal-breakers. The 11 packs a punch with performance, has an above-average camera, almost no-bloatware software and tries to do something different with Edge Sense.
The president also shared HTC’s plans for the future. HTC will now focus on selling only 3 or 4 profitable smartphones a year. They want to focus their efforts on these products instead of trying to sell a dozen of different smartphones.
Hopefully this strategy will work out for HTC and get them back in the spotlight. HTC is also focusing its R&D efforts on 5G. HTC was the first to launch 4G smartphones and launching the first 5G ones may bring the tide in their favour.
