Huawei Mate 10 series goes official with AI chip, small bezels, dual camera, 4000mAh battery and more

As expected Huawei took wraps from the latest Mate 10 series at an event in Munich. The Mate series carry forward the legacy of its predecessor with the big screen and a gigantic battery capacity. Along with that, both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro have a dual rear camera and new Kirin chip with AI capabilities in it. Let’s dive into specs.

Huawei Mate 10

The regular Mate 10 features a 5.9-inch FHD display. Due to a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, there is a room for a fingerprint scanner below the panel. The device is powered by a new 10nm based Kirin 970 chipset with AI capabilities with better image recognition and Neural Network Processing Unit. Other specs sheet include 4GB RAM, 64GB storage with micro-SD expansion, 4000 mAh battery with Huawei’s Super-Charge tech, which provides a day of usage with just a 20 min of charging.

The Camera department handled by a dual 20MP Leica branded lens on the back. At f/1.6 aperture, the device packs a massive improvement over last year’s f/2.2 aperture. The selfie camera is 8MP with f/2.0. The device comes with Android Oreo with EMIUI 9.0 out of box. There are Black, Gold, Pink and Mocha Brown color options to choose from.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro

As the name suggests, this one comes with some Pro capabilities. It features a rather popular 6.0-inch AMOLED panel with 18:9 aspect ratio with minimal bezels on sides. The fingerprint scanner is moved to back. Other improvements include bigger storage option (128GB), IP68 rating, and Midnight Blue/Titanium Gray color options. Remaining is same as the regular Mate 10.

Porsche Design Mate 10

Huawei partnered with Porsche and made necessary changes to hardware and software. It’s basically a Mate 10 Pro with new ‘Diamond Black’ color option and 8GB RAM/256GB storage inside it. The user interface is also tweaked by Huawei to better suit Porsche’s design elements. In past, the car company used to team-up with Blackberry for special edition phones and this is the first time they made a deal with the Chinese company.

Availability and Pricing

Huawei Mate 10 is priced at $825 and will be available to purchase starting from November in Saudi Arabia, Spain, Singapore, Australia, and UAE. The bigger pro model comes with a $943 price tag and the availability starts from mid-November in the European and Asian market. And as expected, the Porsche model will set you back with an eye-watering $1646 price tag. Find out more about new Mate 10 series on Huawei’s official website.
