Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9 now Official
Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9 are now official. Huawei’s latest flagship has been part of the major leaks and rumours for quite sometime and it seems most rumours turned out to be true. Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9 are being pitched as devices that can fix three major issues with modern day smartphones – battery life, software and camera issues.
Huawei Mate 9 and the Porsche Design Mate 9 sport a design similar to last year’s Mate 8 but also borrow some of the design elements from P9. Both Mate 9 and the Porsche Design Mate 9 are large with 5.9-inch display. Huawei Mate features a full HD display with a screen-to-body ratio of 77 percent while the premium Porsche Design Mate 9 gets a Quad HD resolution display with 73 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Porsche Design Mate 9 is also the first device from Chinese telecom major to feature dual-edge curved display, similar to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The smartphones are powered by HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor, the most powerful processor yet from Huawei’s stable.
So that Kirin 960 – Huawei says is the world’s first chipset to feature an ARM Cortex-A73/A53 Octa-core CPU and Mali G71 Octa-core GPU. The CPU boasts the best multi-core performance among all smartphone SoCs, while reducing power consumption by 15 percent.
It also claims a 180 per cent performance uplift and a 40 per cent improvement in energy efficiency compared to its predecessor. Graphics get a boost, too, with increased graphics performance by up to 400 per cent.
The 4000 mAh high-density battery plus SuperCharge technology (which is 50 per cent faster than its predecessor) is promising over two days of uninterrupted performance, a 40 per cent increase in CDMA call time and a 20 per cent increase in gaming time.
Using Linux to improve the native Android OS, EMUI 5.0 not only makes the interface more intuitive, it aims to become more intelligent and efficient over time by understanding your behavior patterns – making sure high priority apps gets preference for resources such as story and battery.
The Mate 9 will be launching everywhere but Australia at first, it seems. China, Malaysia, France, Poland, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Italy Spain, Japan, Thailand, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates are getting the 4GB + 64 GB Mate 9 for €699 and the 6GB + 256GB Porsche Mate 9 for €1395.
