iPhone 7 was the world’s best selling smartphone in Q2 2017, Galaxy S8 leads the pack in Android race

The Q2 report for the smartphone sales is in. And unsurprisingly, Apple and Samsung are leading the pack with top 3 spots.

The iPhone 7 remains everyone’s favourite as the Cupertino giant managed to ship 16.9 million units in Q2 2017. The device alone accounted for 5% of total sales in the second quarter.

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 grabs the second spot with 10.2 million units while its bigger brother Galaxy S8+ ranks in 9 million shipment numbers at the third spot. That combined performance helped the Korean giant to post highest ever profit in its history beating the long time rival Apple.

Now that we are entering the next phase of smartphone launches, the competition is about to get much more competitive and it will be interesting to see how the picture looks like at the end of 2017.
