Reliance Reported to Launch Jio Prepaid on 15th August

Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio Infocomm has said that its 4G LTE services will be launched commercially in the coming months and will be at “substantially lower” rates than rivals, rekindling fears of a bruising tariff war in an already competitive industry. Well, now according to an Article published by PhoneRadar, Jio Prepaid Services shall be launching on 15th of August. They’ve got this confirmation from an internal source at Jio.

Jio opened up its network to staff and others late last year, and currently serves to more than 1.5 million subscribers, which include customers of its LYF smartphones, employees and business partners including retailers. The telco has also begun the roll out of its data preview offer for Samsung 4G smartphone users in India. A similar pact with Apple and other handset vendors is also said to be in the works.
The chairman, Mr. Mukesh Ambani said Reliance Industries has invested over Rs. 112,000 crores ($17 billion) in its various businesses operations during 2015-16, which he claimed was the highest-ever by any corporate in India in creating growth engines for the future.

Reliance Jio Infocomm is also said to be setting up 500,000 activation outlets and close to a million recharge outlets to prepare for the launch of its 4G services in the coming months.
Adding on to this, the company also announced Mobile Number Portability (MNP) for Reliance Jio 4G prepaid and postpaid customers.

Jio shall be giving fierce competition to current market leaders like Vodafone and Airtel who dominate the 4G userbase in India. Jio promises to give better services with a lower tariff. In the recent years, the consumers have often agitated against poor services offered by the telcos leading to Call Drops, Expensive Data Plans and Network Coverage. Since the launch of the testing programme, Jio has always tried to demonstrate it’s services to be redundant and better than the others.

I have been using Vodafone 4G since 4 months now, and Jio 4G is much better in terms of consistent coverage and actual speed delivery. Even Airtel has not been able to grab a foothold when it comes to actually delivering a good experience.
