Micromax Announces Dual 5 with Dual Camera Setup for ₹24,999
Micromax has come back from its hiatus with a new smartphone for the Indian market, the Micromax Dual 5. The handset is priced at ₹24,999 and will be available starting April 10 from Flipkart, Micromax e-store and other retail channels. The Dual 5 is the first launch from Micromax in a long time and the company claims to have been working on the device for more than six months. The company has started prebookings for the handset on its own website.
“We want to be an important player in premium smartphone segment in Rs 20,000 plus range. All Micromax phones will now be 4G enabled. We expect 20-25 per cent business growth in 2017-18,” Micromax Informatics Co-Founder Rahul Sharma said while launching the Dual 5.
The Micromax Dual 5 has a full metal body with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3, 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB RAM, and 128GB storage.
The Dual 5 has two 13 megapixel cameras on the back. One of them has a standard RGB color filter and the other can only capture monochrome images. The secondary camera can be used to capturing monochrome images but its primary function is to work along with the other camera.

Micromax Dual 5 sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone also comes with security features like separate space for personal and private data. The company says the Dual 5 has an independent security chip based on military-grade EAL 5+ security for securing password and user data. The Dual 5 houses a 3200mAh battery and comes with Quick Charge 3.0 support, which the company claims can charge the device to full in just 45 minutes. Other features include an IR blaster, app freezer to restrict background apps and VoLTE support.
The Micromax Dual 5 is priced at INR 24,999 ($385) and will be available starting April 10 with registrations starting today.
