Micromax launches Canvas 6 and 6 Pro in India
Homegrown Indian company Micromax today unveiled their new flagship device, the Canvas 6 and 6 Pro in India. A total of 19 products were unveiled at the event, with 15 new phones.
The company also unveiled a new logo and branding, as seen below. At the event, they emphasised that it has worked hard to improve software and services a customer derives from its devices. Other smartphones launched at the event include the Bolt Supreme, Bolt Supreme 2, Bolt Q381, Canvas Spark 2+, Canvas Evok, Canvas Mega 2 and Canvas Unite 4.
The 4G-enabled Canvas 6 and 6 Pro (seen below) have been priced at Rs. 13,999. While the latter has already gone up for pre-orders via the company’s own site from Wednesday, the former is expected to become available soon.
Both smartphones feature a 5.5-inch full-HD display with a pixel density of 401ppi. While the Canvas 6 is powered by an unspecified MediaTek octa-core, the 6 Pro is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio MT6795m SoC. The Canvas 6 also bears the first metal body and fingerprint scanner on a Micromax phone. While the Canvas 6 features 3GB of RAM, the Canvas 6 Pro features 4GB of RAM. Other differences include 32GB of inbuilt storage on the Canvas 6, versus 16GB of storage on the Canvas 6 Pro.
Both smartphones bear a 3000mAh battery and a 13-megapixel rear camera, while the Canvas 6 bears an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and the Canvas 6 Pro a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
Micromax for the past few months has been struggling with it’s sales due to stiff competition from companies like Lenovo, Xiaomi, Vivo and Gionee who have been filling the market with cheap low end devices.
