Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 Running Android Launched in India
After a long sabbatical, Nokia branded phones have been making a comeback worldwide. Finally, the latest offerings have landed in India. HMD launched the new Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 today at an event in New Delhi. The devices were first unveiled at MWC Barcelona this year. These are the first Nokia smartphones to hit the Indian market since the Lumia series shut down when Microsoft took over Nokia’s mobile business.
The Nokia 6 is the biggest of all three of these Nokia-branded handsets, featuring a 5.5-inch display (1920 x 1080), 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and all powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor. The front facing 8MP camera is getting upgraded with a wide-angle lens and auto-focus, and the regular camera remains the same as the Chinese variant: 16-megapixel with dual tone flash.
The Nokia 6 is manufactured from a block of aluminum with diamond cut edges. The Android 7.0 Nougat smartphone has USB 2.0 port for connectivity, fingerprint sensor in the front, stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos audio enhancement. The dual-SIM Nokia 6 smartphone comes with a 3000mAh non-removable battery with fast-charging support. There’s a lot offered on the connectivity side including Wi-Fi, Cat. 4 LTE with VoLTE, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.1.
The device will sell for ₹14,999 (approx. $233) and is going to be an Amazon Exclusive. Amazon is also offering ₹1,000 cashback to Amazon Prime customers who pay via Amazon Pay along with ₹300 worth benefits on Kindle.
The Nokia 5 is also made out of a block 6000 series aluminium, but at a smaller scale. Gorilla Glass display is 5.2”. Inside, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 with the Adreno 505 graphics processor. The main difference between the Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 is design. While the Nokia 5 is also aluminum, it has curved edges that make the display feel like it’s bleeding into its metal casing.
It sports a 5.2-inch HD display and just like the Nokia 6,it is also powered by Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The Nokia 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 430 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM, and comes with 16GB inbuilt storage.
Unlike like the Nokia 6, this device is going to be offline exclusive. The official price is ₹12,899 (approx. $200). The device will be available for pre-order starting 7th July.
The third and final new Nokia Android phone is the Nokia 3, and it’s the most basic of the trio. HMD has stepped down to a 5-inch display for the Nokia 3, paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an MTK 6737 quad-core processor. Unlike the 5 and the 6, the Nokia 3 features a polycarbonate back, with an aluminum frame. The Nokia 3 also features an 8-megapixel camera at the front and rear, and a pure version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The Nokia 3 shall retail for ₹9,499 and will go on sale from 16th June.
