Nokia 8 revealed having dual-camera with Zeiss optics in leaked images

Earlier this month, HMD Global revealed its partnership with Zeiss and is now bringing back the Zeiss branding on Nokia-branded phones. It appears that Nokia will launch Nokia 8 having Zeiss optics on July 31st. As recently hinted, this will be HMD Global’s flagship smartphone for 2017, and not the Nokia 9.

The Nokia 8 is expected to sport a  5.3-inch QHD (2,560×1,440) touchscreen display. At the heart, it is expected to have  Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 4 or 6GB of RAM, depending on which version you buy. It can have 64GB of storage and dual-SIM models. There are chances of HMD Global not releasing the 4GB version of Nokia 8.

From the above-leaked image from the press renders, we can see there’s a dual camera setup on the back along with Zeiss branding. Each sensor will have 13 MP resolution, and the phone will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat as you’d expect. A couple of press renders portraying it has been leaked by Evan Blass (also known as @evleaks). It seems that HMD is sticking with physical keys and larger display bezels for its Nokia-branded flagship device. That could make the Nokia 8 a hard sell against the Samsung Galaxy S8 and other similar Android-powered handsets, but pricing could make up for the design elements.

While this Nokia 8 will include Carl Zeiss optics, it won’t have the same type of camera system that was made by the engineers of Nokia’s PureView. Apple hired Nokia’s Lumia photography expert, and the majority of the talent behind Nokia’s camera work left the company when Microsoft acquired Nokia’s phone business.

According to past leaks, the Nokia 8 should come in at least four color schemes at launch – blue, “steel”, gold/blue, and gold/copper. The first of those is shown in today’s leaked renders. Expect a price around €600.
