OnePlus 2 software support officially discontinued

OnePlus 2 owners who were still hopefully waiting for OnePlus to give them a taste of what Nougat was, will ironically have to settle down. OnePlus has official discontinued software support for the 2015 OnePlus flagship.

A user on XDA sent an email to OnePlus asking about the software update for OnePlus 2 when the respondent replied to him saying that OnePlus won’t update ‘dated’ devices.

As much as we would like to give the latest update on the OnePlus 2, we’ve discontinued updates for dated devices.

With the phone having such capable hardware, it’s disappointing to see OnePlus leaving the 2 in the abyss. With OnePlus giving up on the 2, custom ROMs like Lineage OS and Paranoid Android seem to be the only way to get the latest Android versions running on these phones.

Meanwhile, OnePlus is all geared up to launch the OnePlus 5, which is the most plausible reason behind production of OnePlus 3/3T being stopped and software updates for OnePlus 2 being discontinued.
