OnePlus 5 Summer Launch and Leaks
Walking its talk, OnePlus is never settling and is all set to launch its next flagship, the OnePlus 5. OnePlus just confirmed the name of the phone on its Weibo account and a summer launch date.
For the ones wondering – ‘Why the skip to 5? Where’s OnePlus 4?’, the number 4 is considered to be unlucky in the Chinese culture. And also, the OnePlus employees are avid fans of NBA Player Robert Horry (whose jersey number is 5), which also factored in when it came to naming the phone. Interestingly, the OnePlus 5 will be the fifth phone launched by the company.
The successor, to the successful OnePlus 3 & 3T, is expected to sport dual-cameras and a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 835.
The phone might have a similar design language as the 3T with a metal body but with a much more seamless back with changed position of the antenna lines.
A leaked screenshot of the OnePlus 5 suggests that the 2017 flagship killer will have an overkill 8GB of RAM and will run Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box. Although the OnePlus 5 may come in two storage variants of 6GB of RAM – 64GB of ROM and 8GB of RAM – 128GB of ROM. The phone is expected to be priced arounf $449.
Recently, Carl Pei might have just actually shown how the OnePlus 5 might look like in one of his Snapchat stories as pointed by a twitter user. This is our best look yet at the upcoming flagship from the Chinese company.

The OnePlus 5 stands to be very important to the credibility of OnePlus in producing successful flagships year after year. It will compete head-to-head with heavyweights like Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 & iPhone 7 Plus and also the budget Xiaomi 6, all of which sport dual-cameras.
