OnePlus 5T finally launched: Flagship Killer returns?
Sup, OnePlus 5 users?
After weeks of rumors and speculations, OnePlus finally took wraps from the latest flagship in New York(and simultaneous events around the World). The OnePlus 5T is kind of the last flagship of 2017 and OnePlus choose an awkward timing to release their latest offering. Qualcomm is about to introduce Snapdragon 845 and Android OEMs will get ready with their super guns in three months.
But on the other hand, it makes sense for OnePlus to have 5T on shelves. The company can’t afford to sit long on the underwhelming OnePlus 5 and want to add the OnePlus 5T that has more modern looks and a much needed low light camera improvements. Here is what’s new in OnePlus 5T. Their objective was to give the best available in the market, rather than waiting for the Technology to mature.
The 5T features a 6-inch Full OpticAMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage and a 3300mAh battery with Dash Charge out of box. Due to small bezels on front, the fingerprint scanner is moved to back. They say that the fingerprint was preferred on the front by most people, so they gave us Face Unlock, that unlocks the phone in 0.4 seconds. Something we will have to test.
The 5T is rocking Android 7.1.1 and that’s a bummer, considering the Oreo 8.0 update is already out for three months. The company is aiming to start the open beta for 8.0 in late December and the final version should hit the device sometime in Q1 2018. They have new features like Parallel Apps to have 2 instances of the same app on your phone, and OnePlus Switch to transfer data from phone to another.
OnePlus is (Once again) boasting about improved low-light camera performance on 5T. The setup is same as the predecessor, 16MP+20MP setup on the back and a 16MP selfie shooter on the front. They have also improved the Portrait mode because both the sensors are now at f/1.7 aperture, meaning no cropping in pictures to compensate for the differences in sensors.
The battery size stays at 3,300mAh with Dash Charge
