OPPO F5 Launched: Features 20MP Front Camera and 6″ Full HD+ Display

OPPO today launched the F5 at a special media event in Mumbai. The device will succeed the F3 that was launched earlier this year. OPPO has been focusing on the front camera for years now, and the streak continues with this device as well. One point OPPO stressed on is the A.I Beauty Technology that self-learns and recognizes the differences between skin tones and color, age, gender of subjects within an image, and makes appropriate and relevant beautification enhancements to each subject. It is also smart enough to differentiate between men, women and even children to offer the most relevant amount of optimization.

On the design part, F5 has a slim uni-body construction with tinier bezels and chins. A 0.4mm laser string is carved onto the phone – a delicate linear finish that adds detail to the phone body.

The F5 is also OPPO’s first full-screen FHD+ display model with 18:9 aspect ratio and 84.2% of screen-to-body ratio. The F5 comes with Facial Unlock, which is basically a facial recognition technology that will recognize its user and unlock the phone (remember Face ID?).

Coming back to the camera, OPPO F5 comes installed with a 20MP front camera with F2.0 aperture and 1/2.8” sensor. The front-camera Portrait mode also applies a Bokeh effect to the background along with the bundled A.I Beauty Technology. And for the rear camera, the 16MP rear camera is powered by a customized sensor IMX 398 from Sony, along with the F1.8 aperture.

The device comes with 4G RAM + 32 GB ROM bundled along with a Quad Core MediaTek MT6763T processor. OPPO claims that the new processor offers upto 40% more processing power bundled along with ColorOS 3.2. A triple slot tray supports two Nano cards and one TF card simultaneously.

The device is powered by a 3,200 mAh battery that OPPO claims can deliver at least 12 hours of heavy usage.

Priced at ₹19,990 the F5 (Gold and Black Edition) will go on sale from November 9th and will be available both online and offline. Two other models were also launched at the event, the F5 6GB edition ₹24,990 (Red and Black Edition) and the F5 Youth (Black and Gold Edition). These two variants will be available in December.
