Report: LG and Qualcomm in Talks for LG G7 and Snapdragon 845
Seems like LG doesn't want to risk it with the next flagship
South Korean smartphone brand recently unveiled its flagship phone, LG G6. The phone has managed to impress almost everyone in all aspects. Except the SoC, the G6 is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor which was seen in last years top devices. In order to beat Samsung, and launch the device early, LG had to make the move.
LG teamed up with Qualcomm in order to ensure that the chipmaker’s next high-end mobile platform, tentatively called Snapdragon 845, will be present on its 2018 flagship – the LG G7.
“The adoption of the Snapdragon 845 for LG’s next flagship phone seems inevitable, considering the emerging virtual reality and augmented reality solutions require more powerful data processing capability,” says an industry official.
It’s also rumoured that the Snapdragon 845 will offer 30 percent better performance in single-core threading and a 70 percent performance boost can be seen in the multi-core threading. The LG G7 may also feature 6GB of RAM to support Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
