Samsung to debut AI powered digital assistant with Galaxy S8
Samsung recently acquired Viv Labs, the brains behind Siri. Now, the company plans to announce Al powered digital assistant with the upcoming Galaxy S8.
Google’s newly launched Pixels phones come with Google Assistant as a major selling point. But, the search giant is keeping mum about the expandability of Google Assistant to other OEMs. Meaning, third-party manufacturers must come with their own solution. And Samsung is following the same path.
Samsung is talking big here. Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Joe-yong stated to bring deep Al solutions with Viv Lab’s tech. He further added that “Current Galaxy smartphones need separate apps for users to accomplish separate apps like ordering pizza or an Uber, the new AI platform will enable users to order and perform these tasks easily just by voice commands without having to jump through separate apps.”
Viv Labs CEO Dag Kittlaus said that this Al platform won’t be limited to smartphones only, it will possibly arrive on home appliances too.
