Samsung Galaxy Note 7 sales story
Samsung’s latest phablet – Galaxy Note 7 was undoubtedly the best android smartphone available until the reports of phone exploding surfaced. The phone was filled with super specs and was nearly what one would call a ‘perfect smartphone’.
The Korean giant could really have achieved a great deal of success, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Instead, Samsung had to abolish the Note 7 sales and also arrange a recall the ones which were already sold. It took a whopping 1 billion dollar for the company to fix the problem.’
However, before the recall, the early sales numbers looked promising. The Galaxy Note 7 was reportedly 25% ahead in terms of sales compared to Galaxy Note 5. After the recall, the sales took a blow and the phone made only 60% in revenue of what the Note 5 had made. Despite the screw-up, the company sold 7.2 million devices in Q3 2016 (merely 6% behind the Q2’s numbers).
Certainly, the Galaxy Note 7 sales story has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. The Note 7 sales will resume on October 21st (still about one month to go). Fortunately, the replacements units for affected customers have already begun.
With iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus released, will the Note 7 be able to make a strong comeback? Will it be 100% safe? Only time will tell. Let us know what you guys think about this in the comments section below.
