Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge becomes world’s top-selling smartphone for H1 2016
According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge topped the list of world’s top-selling Android smartphone model in H1 2016. Furthermore, the Galaxy J2 and the Galaxy S7 became the second and the third runner ups, respectively.
In terms of the numbers, Samsung shipped 13.3 million units of the Galaxy S7 Edge in H1 2016, accounting for a share of 2 percent of all Android smartphones shipped worldwide. The Galaxy J2, which shipped 13.0 million units, was followed by the Galaxy S7 with shipments of 11.8 million units during H1 2016.
On a whole, Android shipments rose by 5 percent from 552.2 million units in H1 2015 to 577.3 million units in H1 2016, while Apple shipments fell by 16 percent from 108.7 million in H1 2015 to 91.6 million in H1 2016. The sales of other models such as, Huawei P9, OPPO R9, and Vivo X7 also increased at a good rate.
So, with Samsung ruling in H1 2016 and Note 7 releasing soon, there are less chances of Korean giant losing its top position in the latter half of 2016. But, Apple can make a comeback with iPhone 7 and recover its position.
