Samsung Gear Sport, Gear Fit2 Pro, and Gear IconX earbuds officially announced at IFA Berlin
IFA Berlin is going full swing. And Samsung just took the stage to announce new wearables in Gear category. All the three models bring both refinement and improvements compared to last generation products. Let’s start with Gear Sport.
As the name suggests, the Gear Sport is basically a rugged version of Gear S3 smartwatch with a smaller display. The rest of the specs remain unchanged. The Sport variant is lacking MST functionality so no Samsung Pay with your wrist but makes up for it by delivering water resistant up to 50 meters and MIL-STD-810G certification. It packs 1.2-inch AMOLED display, 1.0 GHz processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB storage and runs on Tizen OS with the user-friendly rotating bezel.
The Gear Fit2 Pro focuses enhancements in both hardware and software. The buckle is now stronger for better grip. The Fit2 comes with curved AMOLED display, GPS, swim tracking, calorie estimation, and 200mAh battery. The software department is handled by Samsung’s own Tizen OS.
The updated Gear IconX solves the major critical area of its predecessor. Yes, the battery life. The 2016 IconX only delivered 1.5 hours of battery life via streaming music via Bluetooth. The 2017 variant adds 340mAh battery and is rated at six hours of standalone use and five hours in Bluetooth mode. The colour options are Black, White, and Pink.
The Gear Fit2 Pro will be available for pre-order on August 31st for $199. The pricing and availability for other two wearables remain unknown for now.
