Samsung Knox is world’s most secure mobile platform according to Gartner

Samsung is undoubtedly the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer and lately has been having a great time with it’s flagships. Not only consumers, but even experts agree that they are the best. Samsung today adds another important gold medal to its increasingly crowded trophy room.

Usually when it comes Secure Mobile Platforms for Enterprise Mobility, BlackBerry’s BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Service) and Apple pop up due to best encryption standards and a spotless service record. Governments and highly sensitive organisations rely on these services hence there is zero room for error.

But surprisingly market research firm Gartner ranked Samsung Knox number one in its “Mobile Device Security: A Comparison of Platforms” analysis, after pitting it against 11 other software products in both “core OS security features” and “enterprise management capabilities.”

Gartner notes, “Security professionals must make informed decisions about deploying management software or mobile security apps, or whether they can rely on the various devices’ security controls. This assessment focuses on the security requirements that apply to mobile devices and compares the most popular mobile device platforms with respect to these requirements.”

Samsung believes this highlights the company’s “industry leading position” in everything from Authentication Methods, Encryption Management, Jailbreak/Root Protection, and App Vetting. Unfortunately, the names of the other graded platforms, and their classification aren’t available. But it’s safe to assume that Knox has to fend off BlackBerry’s Suite of Enterprise Services.

Samsung KNOX provides enterprise-ready devices with built in defense grade security, right out of the box. Anchored in the device’s hardware, Samsung KNOX protects the device from the moment it boots up all the way through launching an app. KNOX 2.6 is the latest version of Samsung’s mobile security platform, available on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge devices. The KNOX 2.6 security platform is also optimized for Android M, which contains a number of features that enhance security and user productivity.
