Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Launched in India for ₹67,900

Samsung has finally launched it’s latest flagship, the Note 8 in India today. The device was announced globally back on 24th of August and has been up for pre-order in USA and South Korea. Galaxy Note 8 comes after the fiasco of Note 7, which Samsung had to pull off the shelves due to the phone exploding, catching fire in some cases. Samsung had later revealed it was an issue with the battery that caused the problems.

Initial reports and official statements from Samsung confirm that the device has received an amazing pre-launch interest and the highest amount of pre-orders for any Note Series device. Even though the device is the most expensive flagship smartphone from Samsung till date costing more than $900 in the USA, S Pen addicts have been lining up to get their hands on this device.

The Galaxy Note 8 comes with a monsterous screen of 6.3 inches but it still manages to cram that in a relatively small footprint, thanks to Samsung’s Infinity Display. The display is of the same size as Galaxy S8+ and also has the same resolution. The display follows an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels.

It runs on the latest processor much like the flagship phones – Galaxy S8 and S8+, the Galaxy Note 8 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. To recall, Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ was also launched with the same processor in the US. However, the same variant didn’t make its way to India. Instead the company brought the phones running on the Exynos 8895 64 bit (10nm-based) processor.

Galaxy Note 8 also gets a dual-rear camera on board with 12MP + 12 MP set up in which both have OIS on board. Samsung has gone for the telephoto and wide-angle lens setup. The front camera is 8MP. The phone also has dedicated Bixby voice-assistant button and currently runs Android Nougat, though an Oreo update is promised. It also comes with the S-Pen, a key feature of the Note series, and this is also water-resistant now with IP68 rating just like the smartphone. Samsung has said that Bixby Voice shall be coming to Note8 as well as S8 devices in a couple of few weeks which has been optimized for Indian English accent.

The smartphone has three biometric unlocking features – fingerprint scanner, facial recognition, and an iris scanner. It is powered by a 3300mAh battery with wireless charging.

Like every other Samsung device coming now, the Note8 comes with Samsung Pay by default. [Know More]. The device also comes with AKG Certified Earphones along with the device.
