Samsung secures initial batch of Snapdragon 845 processor for the Galaxy S9

Now that we are close to the Galaxy Note 8 launch, the rumors about the 2018 flagship, Galaxy S9/S9+ start flowing in.

A recent report suggests that the South Korean giant was able to get hands on the first batch of Qualcomm’s next flagship CPU dubbed as Snapdragon 845.

Samsung reportedly did the same for Galaxy S8/S8+ with Snapdragon 835. The privileged access gave the company an edge compared to LG and HTC. LG was forced to go with last gen Snapdragon 821 processor while HTC waited till April end to integrate the latest CPU.

It seems both Samsung and Qualcomm have reached an agreement. Samsung will manufacture Qualcomm’s latest chips and the chip maker will return the favor with an initial access to them.

Similar to previous years, the Galaxy S9 will feature Snapdragon CPUs in US and China while the other region like Europe and India will get next-gen in-house Exynos 8900 processor.
