Sony and Microsoft out! Micromax and Meizu in for latest IC Insights list
The latest list for top 12 smartphone manufactures in Q1 2016 is out by IC Insights. And the top 3 are no brainer here. The South Korean giant, Samsung is still the undisputed king of sales with 81.5 million units in Q1. While Apple comfortably sits at second position with 51 million units sold in same period. The Chinese OEM, Huawei enjoys the third spot with 28.9 million sales.
If you closely observe the list, the most surprising element is out of top 12 OEMs, 8 companies belong to China. Behind Samsung and Apple, it’s all Chinese show down there followed by Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo. Among them, Oppo and Vivo are the biggest gainers with 54% and 48% improvements in sales compared to last year. While Lenovo, even after Motorola acquisition, failed to deliver good results. They experienced the biggest fall out in list from 4th position to 9th position this quarter.
Indian smartphone manufacture Micromax makes a surprising appearance in chart at 12th position. While Sony’s bad times aren’t stopping anytime soon, making them disappear from the list. Even Microsoft’s recent efforts to gain the market share didn’t help them to stay in top 12.
So, what are your thoughts about this list? Which smartphone manufacture surprise you with its performance? Sound off in comments.
