Sony Xperia X Compact with 4.6 inch display unveiled at IFA 2016
Sony is perhaps the only major OEM that is trying to capture the market for smaller smartphones. In an another attempt to reinvent the category again, the company has just announced Xperia X Compact along with flagship Xperia XZ at an event in IFA 2016.
The Xperia X Compact is basically a Xperia XZ with few tricks. Xperia X Compact packs 4.6 inch 720p display, Snapdragon 650 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 23MP/5MP camera combo, fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C connector with Quick Charge 2.0 technology. For comparison, the flagship Xperia XZ has better display, faster Snapdragon 820 processor, 4K recording capability, water-resistance, beautiful body and much better front facing shooter.
The phone will launch next week in Universe Black, Mist Blue, and White, so we’ll know more about the pricing very soon.
We don’t know if there is enough market for underpowered smaller phones. Let’s see how Xperia X Compact turns out for the Japanese company. What are your opinions about it? Share in comments.
