Xiaomi Mi Band 2 goes official with $22 Price Tag
Xiaomi has unveiled its second-generation Mi Band 2 in China. The new band from Xiaomi as promised by CEO Jun Lei will go on sale starting June 7. Priced at CNY 149 (roughly Rs. 1,500), the new Xiaomi Mi Band 2 packs a host of improvements over its predecessor including an all-new OLED screen and the much-requested heart rate sensor.
Like the original Mi Band and other fitness trackers, the Mi Band 2 pairs with smartphones via Bluetooth and it can track user’s health, fitness and sleeping routine. The major highlight of the Mi Band 2 is its 0.42-inch OLED display, which shows time, the number of steps taken and the heart rate count recorded by the PPG sensor in the band.
The company says that it has also improved the algorithm of the pedometer so that it gives a more accurate step count. Xiaomi has also included gestures such as lifting of the wrist to skim through the menus onscreen. Like the previous version of the band, this too includes sleep tracking, though with improvements in the software.
Details of the International launch are not available yet. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 will be compatible with devices running Android 4.4 and above as well as iOS 7.0 and above.
