Xiaomi opens first flagship store in India, plans 100 more in two years
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi wants to gain a foothold in the offline market in India. And in a bid to achieve that, Xiaomi today opened the first flagship store in Bengaluru. The company is already a big player in online sales and reportedly gained the 2nd spot in overall smartphone market share for Q1 2017.
Customers can walk-in and have an experience of entire Xiaomi portfolio including smartphones, Bluetooth speakers, air purifiers, headphones, VR headsets, and other accessories. The company aims to open 100 of these in two years.
Xiaomi said it doesn’t want to try old method of going through retailers and distributors. The company wants to connect directly with the end customer which in result eliminates the commission of third-party owner and the benefit directly goes to consumers.
Xiaomi recently reached $1 Billion revenue in India and now aims the next target of $2 Billion. The company is expected to launch Mi Home, Security camera, LED bulbs, rice cookers, and more IoT-enabled devices in coming months.
