Xiaomi has shipped 70 million smartphone units so far in 2017
The Chinese smartphone maker is having a great year and claims to have shipped more than 70 million smartphone units already this year. Last month, Xiaomi sold over 10 million units for the second month in a row.
The company’s previous highest shipment is 71 million in a year. This year, Xiaomi beats the target. The total shipments of the company now crossed over 70 Million units for the first ten months of this year, which means that this figure will surely go up in the coming two months. Lei Jun, Founder and CEO of Xiaomi, has revealed the triumph and also set a target of 100 million units for 2018.
Xiaomi has also achieved 100 Billion yuan sales target for the whole year. A new Mi Flagship store “Mi Home” has been inaugurated on Sunday, in Shenzhen; which is a technology hub in China. The new ‘Mi Home’ store in Shenzhen is the biggest ever store for Xiaomi which is built in the space of 650 square meters.
“Xiaomi has an even bolder plan to become a top 500 enterprise in the world in 2018,” Lei told media after the launch of the new flagship shop.
Jun added further that he expects Xiaomi’s revenue to exceed 1 trillion yuan in a decade.
As the online-only brand, Mi, failed to shift the business from online to offline, the company admitted having struggled to post sales growth during 2015 and 2016. The company feels that the offline-market is a critical area of smartphone sales and it has been pushing in opening new Mi Home stores across the world, in the coming future.
An IDC report recently claimed that Xiaomi despite being at the fifth place globally had the strongest gain, doubling its sales to 27.6 million units, driven mainly by success in India.
