ASUS Zenfone 4 to be launched by end of July
Asus Zenfone 4 was expected to be launched at Computex 2017, just when its predecessor had been launched. But due to some “design overhaul & efficiency upgrades” the launch couldn’t be in time.
Jerry Shen, CEO of Asus, just confirmed to Digitimes that the phones will be launched towards end of July. With a push-back of couple of months we expect the changes to be worthy enough because the delay will cost Asus. Shen expects an operating loss in the first half of the year due to this.
With a major surge of Chinese phones hitting markets’ budget segment it has been increasingly difficult for other OEMs to maintain their position. According to Shen, improvement in the phone that have caused the delay will put the phone in a better position against competition and help the company get profits by the end of the year.
The 5.5-inch Zenfone 4 has not yet been leaked and almost no details about it are available. But Asus confirmed that the Zenfone 4 will be made available first, followed by other variants of it. Also, expect the Zenfone 5 to launch early next year at the MWC according to Jerry.
