AirPods 2 & AirPower will launch this year: Here’s all you need to know!

Still as expensive

I admit. The Apple AirPods have really tickled my bone, thanks to countless memes and spoof videos that are all over the internet. The AirPods when originally revealed were severely mocked for both its design and the price. But almost 2 years later, seems like Apple has again managed to find buyers for a product that faced a lot of scepticism. And if rumours are to be believed, we are going to see Apple AirPods 2 this year for sure.

Apple AirPods 2

While we’re not sure if this can truly be believed, but according to a report by MySmartPrice, the Apple AirPods 2 is coming later this year. Apparently, the AirPods 2 will, unfortunately, look exactly the same as the current generation AirPods. There will be no change in shape or size, but the new AirPods may come with a new coating on top to improve grip. This is something that would be a welcome change, considering how easy it is to drop and lose these expensive ‘earrings’.

The new coating on the AirPods could make the exterior similar to that found on the top half of the Google Pixel 3. This frosted soft-touch feel glass, apparently, provides a subtle grip when placed in your ears. Also, AirPods 2 will probably have a black colour offering. Apart from the exterior changes, the AirPods 2 is expected to get an internal overhaul that will help it produce a much better bass and overall sound. They might be priced at $199.

Apple AirPower

The same report that mentions the AirPods 2, also mentions the release of the infamous AirPower mat that Apple announced, but never launched. For ones who don’t know what the AirPower is, it’s basically a wireless charging mat that is capable of charging your iPhone, Apple Watch & the AirPods all at once.

The AirPower mat will be thicker than originally intended due to its 8-7-7 coil configuration. Apple, apparently, has also woven some exclusive features around the mat that will only debut with iOS 13. The mat is expected to be priced at $149.
