Blackberry ‘Mercury’ to feature same camera sensor as the Pixel, set to debut on Feb 25
At this year’s CES, Blackberry showcased the upcoming Android phone codenamed ‘Mercury’. Apart from the design and looks, everything from specs, software, and a release date was unknown, until now.
A new report suggests that the ‘Mercury’ may spot the same camera sensor as the Pixel. But don’t get your hopes too high, it’s only the hardware part. The real magic lies in the image processing. Blackberry needs to nail it too. The selfie shooter is rumored at 8MP, which is a big improvement over Priv’s miserable 2MP front cam.
The chipset in use is Snapdragon 625, which is, of course, a downgrade. But considering how Blackberry is aiming this one at the mid-range market, the choice was obvious.
The Canadian company in a partnership with TCL is set to officially took wraps from ‘Mercury’ on 25 Feb at MWC.
