Here’s everything we know about the POCO F2 so far
The first offering from Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO, the F1 has been a bestseller phone in developing markets. POCO F1 costs around INR 20,000 and offers extremely bang on value for money. It is the cheapest phone to be powered by a 10nm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The F1 was launched last year in August and a highly anticipated successor is expected to launch soon.
Last week, the POCO F1 Lite smartphone got listed on Geekbench revealing key details. Now, the POCO F2 was spotted on the same benchmarking website. The listing indicates that the POCO F2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM in the base option. The smartphone was also spotted running Android Q. The next major update hasn’t be announced yet and shall be unveiled at Google I/O developer conference in May.
The POCO F2 was first spotted on Geekbench back in December last year as well and was rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and running on Android Pie. In terms of the benchmarking performance, the POCO F2 is reported to have scored 1,776 in the single-core test and 6,097 in the multi-core test.
The POCO F2 benchmark scores appear to be relatively lower. What’s confusing is that the listing shows that the POCO F2 has 4GB RAM while the POCO F1 comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM options. Talking about its OS, this upcoming smartphone is likely to arrive with Android 9 Pie topped with POCO launcher out of the box. And, we can expect it to receive the Android Q update after its release in the market.
Rumors also suggest that there will be a notable design change along with camera improvements. Considering a yearly refresh cycle, the phone is expected to launch in August 2019.
