Meizu PRO 5, the most powerful Ubuntu phone is now available

Ubuntu announced today that the most powerful Ubuntu phone, Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu edition, is available to order from JD, retailing at USD$369.99. The Meizu PRO Ubuntu Edition 5 features superior high spec hardware and ships with the latest Ubuntu OTA 10 OS, making content centric Scope experience on this Ubuntu device smoother than ever.

Even though the global mobile market is heavily dominated by Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS, smaller players like Canonical are still up for a fight with it’s Ubuntu Mobile OS. Globally, newer OS’s like Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 have failed miserably due to lack of apps as well as an OEM.

Unfortunately, the Meizu PRO 5 Ubuntu Edition is a little late to the actual availability party, launching commercially a full six months on the heels of the Android-powered variant. Still, the bang for buck is decent at the very least when you consider the 5.7-incher’s Full HD AMOLED display, premium metal execution, octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 32GB Inetrnal Storage, 3GB RAM 21MP rear-facing camera, 3,050 mAh battery, USB Type-C connectivity, and LTE Cat.6 support.
