Redmi flagship to be launched in China; might come to India

This might be know as Poco F2 globally

Since a while, there have been rumours going around of a flagship phone by Redmi. This phone was thought to be named the Redmi X at first. But when Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing refuted the rumour on Weibo, the new apparent name of the flagship is Redmi K20 Pro. Seems weird, but this might actually be the case if the latest rumour is true.

This phone is expected to go neck-in-neck with Realme’s upcoming flagship: the Realme X (name not confirmed). Both phones are expected to offer top-of-the-specs at really affordable prices. We might even see the alleged K20 Pro as the Pocophone F2 (or Poco F2) globally.

But what do we know about the phone? Let’s check out!

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): Processor

The Redmi K20 Pro will have Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 SoC. The 855 is one of the best mobile processors available in the world right now. It’s found on phones like the Samsung Galaxy S10, the OnePlus 7 Pro and the upcoming Realme flagship.

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): Display

The phone is expected to have a 6.39-inch AMOLED display. There’s no information on the display resolution, but we can expect a Full HD display. Also, if true, this will be the first Redmi phone to sport an AMOLED display.

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): Battery

According to some reports, the phone might have a battery with a capacity of 4,000mAh. A 4,000mAh battery seems to be a sufficient amount of juice to power a phone with the Snapdragon 855 for a day. Also, we can expect Redmi to include fast charging on the phone. The image above claims that it will support 27W Fast Charging.

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): RAM & Storage

According to a report by mysmartprice, the phone will be available in four different variants. The 4 different variants are given below:

  • 6GB RAM + 64GB storage
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB storage

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): Design & Colours

Unfortunately, at the moment there’s not a lot we know about the build quality or the design of the phone. But we can expect the phone to have minimal front bezels and no notch as it’s expected to have a pop-up selfie camera. Also, the same report above states that the phone will be available in three colours: Red, Blue, and Carbon Fiber, We’ve already seen Red & Carbon Fiber on the original Poco F1.

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): Camera

The phone is expected to have a triple-camera setup at the back. Out of the three, one will be a 48-megapixel shooter, one will be an ultra-wide lens and the third one can be a telephoto or a TOF sensor. As mentioned above, the phone is expected to have a pop-up selfie camera with a 20-megapixel sensor.

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): Price

This is another grey area as far as information about the phone goes. There’s no leak or report that suggests the price of the phone yet. But considering how aggressive Redmi has been, the phone won’t cost more than $500 according to our estimates.

Redmi K20 Pro (Redmi Flagship): Launch Date

Redmi has arranged for a press meeting on May 13th in China. This is when the company is expected to release the phone. Soon after its launch in China, we can expect the phone to come to other global markets like India and Europe very soon.
