Samsung made more than $60 Billion in Q4 of 2017
Samsung is one of the biggest spenders on marketing in the industry. And as we all know, Sales is a function of Marketing. And, this quarter has been their best one yet, bringing in $61 Billion, out of which $11.5 Billion were profits. Here are some other insights from the report published by them.
The only struggling sector under Samsung electronics was the low-end market segment, probably due to the onslaught of inexpensive Chinese handsets.
Thankfully, the premium segment did very well with the sales of the S8 and the Note 8 (ad they predict that the S9 will do better). The OLED display sales have been pivotal to increase these figures. The semiconductor chipset sales were also up YoY, and they are also producing Qualcomm’s upcoming chipsets.
Though, this wasn’t surprising considering how much the Selling price of phones has increased, and the other factors like supplying displays to Apple and OnePlus also help fatten the wallet. Keep in mind, that a comparison with the same quarter of 2016 also factors in the massive losses incurred due to the Note 7 debacle.
