Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 leak reveals 18:9 taller display, Snapdragon 636, face unlock and more
Now that we are nearing the 1-year release of Note 4, the market is already heating up with the rumors of the successor. The device just hit the 3C, China’s certification standard for product quality. And we have some specifications to talk about.
According to the leak, the Redmi Note 5 features a modern 5.99-inch taller display with 18:9 aspect ratio, recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, 3GB/4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage with expandable memory, face unlock similar to OnePlus 5T, 4,100 mAh battery with fast charging, and Android Oreo-based MIUI 9 out of box.
The camera department also gets a traditional upgrade to the dual lens system. The rear camera features a 16MP and 5MP combo. The selfie cam sits at 8MP resolution. Whether Xiaomi has gone with Apple’s solution or Huawei’s implementation of dual camera set up is remains to be seen.
With MWC right around the corner, we can expect the device to make an official appearance at the event. The pricing is unknown at this time but given Xiaomi’s track record, we expect it to retain the sub 15k price tag.
