Zungle launches 2 new glasses to take on the eyewear market
Please don't be that person who wears sunglasses at the gym...
Remember the Zungle Panther? The fancy pair of sunglasses which had inbuilt bone conduction headphones? After having raised close to $3 million and becoming the World’s second most sold Smart glasses, they have now come up with 2 new models as their second generation offerings. This can go head-on with the new Snapchat Spectacles, in the smart eyewear sector.
Dubbed as Vibra speakers, these speakers transmit sound directly to your skull via dual-spring bone conduction speakers on each leg. And it wouldn’t be a tech product in 2018 without AI onboard, and so the Zungle v2 has a dedicated button on the left leg for summoning Google Now or Siri. This means that you can make hands-free calls and enjoy listening to your favorite beats without needing to take your phone out of the pocket.
The benefit of Bone conduction audio is that your ears always stay open, and get enhanced with music, yet letting you listen to what happens in your surroundings, for your safety. Thus, you can use these outdoors without a worry. Coming with Bluetooth 5.0, battery efficiency and connectivity should be top-notch. The glasses weigh 50g and have a 4-hour playback time and get charged to full within an hour. It is also IPX7 water resistant.
This time around, there are 2 frame designs to choose from, the square-shaped Viper and the round-shaped Lynx, so you can choose based on your style preference. There will be multiple colored lens options available at launch for these 2 frames, and they will eventually launch more designs for these. They also plan on having a frame subscription model so you can try various designs periodically.
The company earned $8 million last year and targets $20 million this year. Impressive figures for a company founded in 2016. You can help with that by preordering the Viper and Lynx for $109 from their website. The retail price after that will be around $190.
