If you give it a thought, Vivo has single-handedly pushed the notch out of smartphones! It wasn’t too long ago when Vivo showed off the Vivo Apex concept at MWC, which was only a concept device then. Fast forward to 2019, and the Vivo V15 Pro has most of what the original Apex concept boasted of, but at a price so affordable I’m still scratching my head!
The Vivo V15 Pro is the first budget phone to have a motorised pop-up selfie camera to make more space for screen up-front. This gives the Vivo V15 Pro a screen-to-body ratio of a whopping 91.64% (the Vivo Nex was 91.24%). The 6.39-inch display upfront is a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of FullHD+. The front also houses the in-display fingerprint sensor in its 5th generation.
The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 675 (first phone in India with this chip) and is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. You can further expand the storage with the help of a microSD card slot.
The V15 Pro, like the others in the V series, looks gorgeous. This time around the V15 Pro launches in two colours; Topaz Blue & Ruby Red. The V15 Pro has what Vivo calls a spectrum ripple design that shows off some sweet-looking lines when light reflects on it. Having seen the phone in person, I can vouch for its overall look-appeal.
The back of the phone gets a triple-camera setup comprising of a 48-megapixel Sony sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensing sensor. The 48-megapixel sensor has 48 million pixels with a size of 0.8μm that helps in improving night photography. The popping selfie-camera up front is a whopping 32-megapixel camera and will take drop-dead gorgeous selfies.
The V15 Pro has a 3,700mAh battery (compared to 3,300mAh on the V11 Pro) and is supported by Dual-Engine Fast Charging that can fully charge the phone in about an hour and a half. The phone comes with Android Pie with Funtouch OS 9 on top.
The Vivo V15 Pro is priced at INR 28,990 and will be available starting March 6 on Amazon, Flipkart and TataCliq online. It’ll also be made available in offline stores around the same time.
