Hyundai Motor India has launched the Bayon mid‑size SUV in India with an introductory ex‑showroom price of ₹9,99,900; the company lists the top‑spec variant with all options at ₹17,99,900 (both prices introductory). The Bayon sits between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s India line‑up and will be manufactured in India for domestic sale and exports.
What Hyundai is offering in India
The Bayon is offered with a 1.5‑litre MPi petrol four‑cylinder engine producing 115 PS and 143.8 Nm of torque, and comes with a choice of a six‑speed manual gearbox or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT). Hyundai has announced manual and automatic (iVT) variant splits across its range: the manual line includes HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10, while the iVT automatic is offered in HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10.
Hyundai says the Bayon will be available in multiple exterior colour choices and a long equipment list. Dimension figures provided by the company include a length of 4,245mm, width of 1,810mm, height of 1,605mm with roof rails, a 2,600mm wheelbase, and a quoted unladen ground clearance of 205mm. Boot capacity is stated as 505 litres.
Connectivity, screens and AI assistant
Hyundai has equipped the Bayon’s dashboard with a dual‑screen curved layout comprising two 12.3‑inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment. The car introduces Hyundai Motor India’s first generative AI voice assistant; Hyundai says the assistant combines intelligence from Perplexity with voice AI powered by SoundHound AI to support natural conversations and provide in‑drive assistance.
The generative assistant works alongside an NVIDIA‑accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), more than 70 Bluelink connected features and vehicle over‑the‑air (OTA) updates. Hyundai claims the system supports over 500 embedded voice commands to access vehicle, comfort and navigation functions.
Comfort, exterior and safety
Key comfort and convenience items listed by Hyundai include ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, reclining rear seats, leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting and a panoramic curved display layout. Exterior highlights include dual LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED taillamps, roof rails and 17‑inch diamond‑cut alloy wheels. Hyundai also offers a panoramic sunroof on higher‑end specifications.
On safety and driver assistance, Hyundai has fitted the Bayon with Level 2 Pro ADAS systems.
