Nokia 6.1 Plus with dual rear cameras and notch is now available in India
To take advantage of the growing midrange demand in the country, HMD Global has now launched the Nokia 6.1 Plus. A while ago, the company launched the Nokia X6 in China, and the same phone has now been rebranded as Nokia 6.1 Plus for the global markets.
Xiaomi has been leading the midrange segment in India this year and their momentum is unstoppable. The company has managed to dethrone Samsung in terms of market share in the country and has forced competitors to think outside of the box.
Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch Full HD display with 1080 x 2280 resolution and 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is a midrange device running Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. It has 4GB of RAM along with 64GB internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card.
This is a dual-SIM smartphone with a 3060mAh battery along with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. The smartphone boasts a dual rear camera setup, with one 16-megapixel sensor and another 5-megapixel monochrome sensor, with f/2.0 aperture. There is also a 16-megapixel front camera with the same f/2.0 aperture. There is also an AI integration to help the camera recognize objects and deliver better results.
“We are turning a new page. Going forward you will see HMD Global that is more aggressive in the market,” said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global.
The phone is a part of Google’s Android One initiative, this means that software updates and security patches will be quickly rolled out to the device in the coming future. The phone will be competing against Xiaomi’s recently announced Mi A2, the Redmi Note 5 Pro as well as ASUS’ ZenFone Max Pro.
The phone is priced at INR 15,999 (US$ 230) and will be sold exclusively via Flipkart and Nokia Online Store starting August 30.
