Windows 10 reaches 400 million devices

Another day and another number. Microsoft is strategically revealing active Windows 10 user base. Last time, the company announced 350 million devices running Windows 10 back in June end. But this time, the figure matters as the free Windows 10 update for existing users finally ended on 28th July.

Let’s rewind. Microsoft previously expected to hit 1 Billion milestone in 2-3 years of timeframe. But, the Redmond giant backed off from earlier estimation and assumed that it would take more time as Windows 10 Mobile has yet to take off.

But let’s talk about the recent figure. 400 million at this time means the company was able to reach more 50 million devices even after the free upgrade offer ends. This is certainly a steady progress and at this rate, Microsoft can estimate to reach 1 billion devices in 3.5 years.

Microsoft also talked about commercial subscribers for its Office 365 productivity service, which currently sits at 70 million, up 10 million from March 2016. No surprise here as well.
